R&D Nester brings together with Carnegie Mellon University Portugal
Potential partnership opportunities brought together the R&D Nester and the advanced training programme in the area of energy and ICT of the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Portugal.
"It represents a step towards the reinforcement of relations between REN/State Grid energy research centre and a University of worldwide recognition," explains Nuno de Souza e Silva, Director of the R&D Nester, regarding the purpose of the meeting with Prof. Dr. João Claro, Director of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Portugal, on 12 September.
A partnership that fits in the strategy of the R&D Nester that since the celebration of technological partnership with State Grid Corporation of China, took as one of its guiding vectors the promotion of a strategic triangle including industry, prestigious universities and international institutions of R&D.
Precisely in view of the R&D Nester profile and his guiding vectors, "CMU Portugal presented the research projects carried out both in Portugal as in Pennsylvania, enhancing their knowledge in the areas of integration of renewable energy sources, management and monitoring of power grids, and energy efficiency", referred the R&D Nester Director.
The Nester R&D bases its activities of research, development and Innovation in four main areas: management of renewable energy sources; simulation of energy systems; technologies for Smart grids; and markets and energy economics.
The Nester R&D bases its research activities, development and Innovation in four main areas: management of renewable energy sources; simulation of energy systems; technologies for Smart grids; and markets and energy economics. Given the profile of the R&D Nester and his guiding vectors, the CMU Portugal presented the research projects carried out both in Portugal as in Pennsylvania, enhancing their knowledge in the areas of integration of renewable energy sources, management and monitoring of power grids, and energy efficiency.
Bearing in mind since the celebration of the technological partnership with State Grid Corporation of China, which will promote a strategic triangle Nester R&D including industry, prestigious universities and international institutions of I&D, the meeting with the CMU Portugal represents a step in the direction of relations between the sedimentary research centre of REN/State Grid and a University of world recognition.
